Who didn’t love natural scores such as Wayne Ellington, Rashad McCants, and Danny Green? Besides the defense of our opponents, everyone wearing Carolina blue showed some sort of affection to the sharp shooters. Today, Roy is taking a look at shooting guard Rashad Vaughn. Rashad Vaughn is at a versatile size of 6’6 200 pounds which gives him a forward like body with a guard skill set. Rashad is yet to receive an offer but he is hearing from the Heels a lot.
Out of the two visits UNC took coach McGrath was present at Rashad’s first scoring clinic while Roy was present at the second. In the first game UNC was present Rashad scored 51 points in his teams OT loss. In the second game Rashad took on number one prospect Tyus Jones, and scored 35 points with 7 boards in another loss. The kid is super athletic and he makes defenders regret getting in his way to stop him. Rashad flourishes on both sides of the ball and considers himself a defensive stopper. On offense he is able to spot up shoot and penetrate to the basket and finish around the rim with a smooth touch.
Compared to the Tar Heel teams in the past he is very similar to Ellington, McCants, and Green. His ability to run the floor and handle the ball is great. Vaughn’s energy and explosiveness is apparent when he finishes with a dunk. Vaughn is number 10 overall in his class and would be a valuable asset to the Heels. A shooter that could guarantee scoring in double figures and a vocal leader who can become the identity of the team would be a great addition and both are lacking from the present. Vaughn has been hearing a lot from the Heels recently and I think he will receive an offer soon. Vaughn’s team already sports the argyle trim on the uniforms. Let’s get this kid to Chapel Hill!
