UNC Drops Out of Latest Top 25 Poll

After yet another dismal, embarrassing performance the North Carolina Tar Heels were bounced out of the top 25 for the first time this season.

UNC was one of two teams who dropped out of the top 25 joining New Mexico who fell all the way down from their previous ranking of 16th the week before, Carolina was ranked 23rd in the nation last week.

The Tar Heels will have plenty of time to reclaim a spot in the national rankings with 19 games remaining on the schedule and conference play just around the corner.  NC State meanwhile jumped back on the board claiming the Tar Heels old #23 spot.  Duke remains ranked as the #1 team in the nation as the only two teams in the ACC nationally ranked this week.

UNC returns to action Saturday against 20th ranked UNLV.  Here’s a look at the rest of the Top 25 AP and USA Today Coaches Polls.

In my latest basketball post I predicted UNC should fall out after the Texas game. Writers are not watching NC State because they are far better than 23, but that could be said about many of the teas. Is Butler really 21st? Just shows that truly they are not a lot of difference from the top teams.
