UNC Basketball Recruiting: Joel Berry to Visit in January or February

2014 point guard Joel Berry will visit Chapel Hill in January or February.  The Tar Heels are going hard after PGs in the 2014 class as head coach Roy Williams has stated that he prefers to add at least one point in every class.

Berry 6-2, 180 Orlando, FL from Lake Highland Prep in Orlando, FL is the first ever sophomore in the state of Florida to be named Mr. Basketball.  Berry is one of the top PGs in the class and has been quoted as saying that Carolina is his dream school.

UNC officially offered Berry just days after offering top 2014 PG Tyus Jones. Berry is now weighing at least 11 total offers.  Berry is one of two PGs with an offer from Carolina along with Tyus Jones, recently the Heels also had a visit from Shelton Mitchell

Berry is the most likely to commit to Carolina in my view with Jones being the top rated prospect and likely to join center Jahlil Okafor in college it doesn’t look like UNC would be high on his list with Marcus Paige and Nate Britt coming in the two classes before him.  Mitchell remains a good possibility also with Roy Williams visiting with him a few times in the last couple months including at Late Night with Roy.

I would rather have jones period! UNC needs a jet quick point guard to run the show and push the ball as fast as possible! The last two championship team had that point guard! Even though berry is a great point guard, jones is at a different level! With our bigs court running abilities jones would be the perfect guard for what Roy really want to do and that is run our opponent out of the gym!

Hope we get him. Looks like a tough kid that plays on both ends.
