Michael Jordan is without a doubt the greatest basketball player of all time.  As an executive/owner, well, things haven’t gone so well to say the least.  The Charlotte Bobcats were beyond awful last season finishing with a record of 7-59.  Soon after the season ended rumors of Jordan ditching the Bobcats began circulating, rumors that continue to pop up despite Jordan’s denials.

MJ has never taken failure lightly, as a player he was a fierce competitor who did anything and everything he could on the court to gain an advantage over his opponents.  During his first tenure as a basketball executive with the Washington Wizards, Jordan couldn’t take losing so much that he decided to kick the suit and lace up his Air Jordans for one more go on the hard wood.

The Bobcats acquired a big time talent in Michael Kidd-Gilchrist in this years draft so the team should see at least a marginal improvement over last seasons embarrassment.  Expecting much more than a small improvement however is probably wishful thinking.  This is going to take time if Michael is going to build a winner in Charlotte.

During the off season rumors of Michael allowing his top lieutenants, something I personally don’t think will last long if it ever even happens at all.  The Bobcats are not a top destination for NBA Free Agents and after shedding salary just after the franchises first ever playoff appearance the build will be slow.  It’s all about making the right draft picks, smart free agent acquisitions and the right trades.

It’s going to take time, but I believe in Michael, do you?
