UNC Basketball Recruiting: 2015 PG Jared Armstrong Reveals UNC Interest

As things heat up in the 2013 and 2014 class, Keeping It Heel has learned that the Heels are recruiting 2015 point guard Jared Armstrong.  Armstrong is ranked as the #9 PG and #50 overall player in the class.   As a freshman, Armstrong started for Christopher Dock and quickly rose as one of the best point guards in the class.  After a terrific summer, Armstrong is one of the rising sophomores in the country.

Armstrong has a high basketball IQ and is a terrific scorer, he’s recently started to work on becoming more of a combo guard with his ability to score the basketball. Armstrong earned the nickname “D1″ during his days in Philadelphia, originally given to him by his brother for his hard work in the gym and ability to score on older players, the nickname has stuck with him ever since.

Armstrong’s favorite program has always been North Carolina and he told us in a June interview that UNC is his dream school.

Armstrong views his style of play like Chauncey Billups but cites Chris Paul as his favorite player.

The Tar Heels have yet to make any offers to prospects in the 2015 class. Right now the concentration is on the 2013 and 2014 classes. Still they have started to recruit some players from the class including top prospect Karl Towns, Malachi Richardson and Armstrong. Jared Armstrong is a player to keep your eye on in the 2015 class, as a rising prospect his true potential has yet to be even remotely scratched. He has a great work ethic and could become one of the gems of the class.
