Straight from the spoke too soon files, it appears Andrew Wiggins does have an offer from UNC. I wrote a piece earlier today about the baffling case of Wiggins and his lack of attention by coaches around the country.
Specifically I wondered aloud how and why North Carolina Tar Heels head coach Roy Williams had yet to extend an offer to perhaps the best prep player since LeBron James. Kentucky and Florida State are seen as the only real contenders for Wiggins’ services.
Wiggins’ high school coach has wondered the same thing aloud and has stated that he only hears from UK coach Jon Calipari and Leonard Hamilton of FSU with the occasional call from Roy Williams of UNC. Apparently Roy offered Wiggins over a year ago, his coach relayed the information to Clint Jackson and he provided this tweet.
Wiggins is still a long shot for the Heels and I expect him to go to Kentucky with FSU as a good #2 option considering both his parents were Seminoles. This is great news for Tar Heel fans with hopes of a dream class in either 2013 or 2014. Wiggins is currently apart of the 2014 class but rumors of him reclassifying to 2013 have been persistent for quite some time now.
Roy Williams and company are rumored to be watching Wiggins work out today along with Calipari and Hamilton. Never doubt perhaps the greatest recruiter of all time. As long as he has an offer from Carolina and Roy keeps in touch, you never know what could happen.
Where do you see Wiggins landing?
