Julius Randle Sets In-Home Visit Schedule, Takes Over Top Spot in Rankings

by Basketball Recruiting

2013 power forward Julius Randle has been a very busy man of late.  Randle first tweeted his top ten list to include “Texas Kansas Baylor UNC Duke Kentucky Florida NC St Oklahoma and Ok st .. No specific order”.  Then yesterday, Rivals released their new player rankings and announced Randle had taken over the #1 spot from SI cover boy Jabari Parker.

Now Randle has set his in-home visit schedule for September as things start to heat up in the chase for the now #1 prospect in the 2013 class.  SEPT 9 (NC St, UK), 10 (UNC), 11 (Duke), 12 (KU), 17 (OU), 18 (OK St), 19 (Tex), 20 (Fla), 22 (Baylor).”

I’ve said all along throughout the process with Randle that I firmly believe he will be a Tar Heel when all is said and done. Roy Williams made him the priority in the class long ago and has not wavered. But as of late, Randle has made some very strong comments about Kentucky and it looks like he is very open to playing for Jon Calipari in Lexington.

Looking at the list of visits and my biggest takeaway is opening night, September 9th. The first day of his nine day visit schedule is the only day in which two different teams will visit. Immediately following is UNC on the 10th, but Carolina is the first to get the day all to themselves. It’s odd if you ask me that Randle is putting Kentucky and NC State together on the first day of nine visit days stretched out across 14 days.

I don’t expect Randle to make any decisions after these in-home visits. He may cut a few teams off his list but I think he will still want to take a few official visits before deciding.
