UNC Basketball Recruiting: Heels Offer 2014 SF Justin Jackson

The North Carolina Tar Heels made yet another offer today in 2014 small forward Justin Jackson.  Jackson becomes the third SF in the 2014 class to receive an offer from the program joining Noah Vonleh and Justise Winslow.    Jackson makes six confirmed offers out in the class.

Jackson is a 6-6, 175 pound five star prospect out of Spring, TX.  Jackson is home schooled and plays for Homeschool Christian Youth.  A very smart and fundamentally sound player, Jackson is a natural leader on the floor.  Athletic and smooth, he’s a nice fit for the Carolina offense.   Jackson shoots the ball well, especially off the catch.  A good locker room guy who is very mature and intelligent and carries himself extremely well.

Jackson is the fourth rated SF in the 2014 class and one of several perimeter players being targeted by UNC.  In addition to the trio of SFs, UNC has also offered SG Theo Pinson.  They have also shown strong interest in Jalen Lindsey and Andrew Wiggins.  The perimeter looks like it’s the highest priority in the 2014 class whereas big men are the focus with the 2013 class.

I like Jackson’s game and maturity, his poise on the court , ability to shoot and lead the break are very appealing.  He isn’t as physically intimidating at just 175 pounds when compared to the much bigger Vonleh or Winslow but he can play with any perimeter player in the class.

Jackson is also considering offers from: Baylor, Georgetown, Ohio St, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Washington.  Several other major programs have shown interest with him as well.

I feel like Roy thinks the core of his perimiter guys will be gone after the 2013 season, he seems to be really going hard for perimiter guys in the next class.

Strickland, McDonald, Bullock are guaranteed 2 be gone and 14 would be PJ’s senior year and Tokoto’s junior, 13 is the year to stock up on bigs and 14 is the wing’s year.

I love that Roy is offering more prospects early than he has in the past few years. Maybe we will see results.
