UNC Basketball Recruiting: Heels Going After Marcus Lee

Marcus Lee a 6-9, 220 power forward/center out of Antioch, CA was recently quoted as saying that North Carolina along with several other teams are going hard after him.

Lee is a great athlete who can run the floor as well as any big man in the country.  He’s overflowing with upside but is very raw right now and isn’t a player you would look to, to make a big impact his freshman season.  With exceptional length to go along with his athleticism he specializes now as a shot blocker and help defender.

He reminds me of Brice Johnson a little bit, he needs to develop a post up game, right now, he doesn’t have a go to move with his back to the basket.  A terrific finisher who’s a quick riser, could use some strength at the next level.

Lee along with Kennedy Meeks, Austin Nichols and Jermaine Lawrence are all Tar Heel targets despite having Isiah Hicks already committed and Julius Randle as the classes top target.  It looks like Roy Williams wants to bring in a few big men in the 2013 class and is covering his bases with many of the classes top prospects.

The father of Austin Nichols named UNC as one of the five schools recruiting his son the hardest.  Meeks recently listed Carolina amongst his top suitors.  And Roy Williams has been on the Jermaine Lawrence trail as of late pretty hard as well.  The 2013 class is deep, Roy and his staff are working hard covering both the 2013 and 2014 classes.  It’s hard to tell right now outside of Randle who is the teams top priorities or which prospect will choose Carolina next.
