Well that didn’t take long! Leslie McDonald returned to the court and exploded on the first day of the NC Pro-Am.
This past Thursday, Leslie McDonald competed in his 1st game since tearing his ACL last Summer at the NC Pro-Am. McDonald finished with 21 points & his UNC teammate, P.J. Hairston finished with 19. Here are the full highlights.
The UNC duo looked like two of the best players on the court in a strong opening show. McDonald looked like he never got hurt, his explosiveness and finishing ability surprised me given the amount of time he missed. He looks very confident on the floor, like he knows he’s one of the best on the court.
McDonalds shot looks crisp whether he’s spotting or pulling up. He looks terrific in transition and his running and leaping ability seem intact. Hairston looks tremendous as well, taking the ball to the rim and using his body to finish at the basket. He also created his own shot from downtown several times utilizing his quick release after one or two dribble jab steps towards the basket freed him up.
Hairston’s strength is a real weapon if he continues to work on incorporating it into his game. McDonald was the star looking as smooth as anybody with the ball in his hands. He can really attack the basket when given some spacing both in the half court and transition offense. His stutter step whether exploding towards the basket or laying off the defender for a step back jumper could turn into his signature move next season.
