UNC Football: Jarran Reed Commits

Inside Carolina reported just minutes ago that Defensive Tackle Jarran Reed has informed them that he has committed to Coach Fedora and the University of North Carolina. He chooses North Carolina over Arkansas and Mississippi State who heavily pursued him.

Reed is 6’4″, weights 290 pounds, runs a 40 in 4.97 seconds, and has a vertical of 24 inches. He is not listed with a rank from recruiting websites because he was a part of the 2011 class, but will join the 2013 class where users of Rivals have given him a four star rating. He opted to attended Hargrave Military Academy last school year and will be attending East Mississippi Community College this forthcoming school year.

Jarran received offers from Clemson, East Carolina, Georgia Tech, Maryland, North Carolina, and NC State. He is a North Carolina resident (from Goldsboro) so a lot of in state interest in Reed. That fits Fedora’s philosophy of the “North Carolina Dream Team” and building the team from the best players in the state.
