UNC Basketball Recruiting: Troy Williams Cuts List To Three

Troy Williams one of the top recruits of the 2013 class and one who has already teased college basketball fans of his vision of a dream team of 2013 recruits joining him at his destination.   Williams who visited Chapel Hill on Wednesday March 21st has began the process of trimming down his list of potential schools.  After his visit he announced his list was down to three.  That lists includes our North Carolina Tar Heels, as well as Kentucky and Georgetown.  His list had included Virginia Tech and Villanova who have since been removed from consideration.

Troy Williams is the nephew of AAU legend Boo Williams.  According to Boo,  Troy will make his decision between May and June.  Rated as the number six prospect in the 2013 class and #2 small forward behind only top recruit Jabari Parker.   Troy’s former AAU teammate James Michael McAdoo plays for the Heels.

“He cut it to three,” his uncle, Boo Williams, told SNY.tv, confirming a report by Scout.com. “He cut it to [North] Carolina, Kentucky and Georgetown.”

“I think there’s no timetable [on a decision],” Boo Williams said. “It will probably be sometime in the spring. It could me May, June but probably before July.”

Williams has took his time in the process of choosing where he will play at the next level.  He’s been recruited by Roy Williams and Carolina since his sophomore season and just as long by Kentucky and Georgetown.  During his visit to Carolina, Williams met up with UNC assistant basketball coach Steve Robinson.

There is strong competition for Williams’ services.  His aunt, Terri Williams-Flournoy, is the women’s coach at Georgetown.  And John Calipari can never be counted out or bet against as one of the games all time best recruiters.
