Sunday North Carolina and Kansas will clash in a game where the winner will be rewarded with a trip to the final four. Kendall Marshall will probably not play for North Carolina, but if he does at what level can anyone expect? Regardless when we look back on this years NCAA tournament no one will remember who lost this game and no one will care if Kendall Marshall did not play. For UNC fans the only outcome that will be excepted is a North Carolina victory.
You can kid yourself by thinking it will be okay if Kansas wins if Marshall is unable to go on Sunday. Harrison Barnes was the number one prospect coming out of High School as was John Henson and Tyler Zeller along with Reggie Bullock were highly rated. I understand the point guard is key, but those future NBA players need to suck it up and find a way to with or without Marshall. If they want to sulk and use that as an excuse then I will be disappointed in all of them. Harrison Barnes cannot have another performance as he did against Ohio. It is one thing to have an off shooting night, but Barnes forced too much on a night where Zeller and bullock had the hot hand. Henson had a nice game, but toward the end of the game he tried too many fade away jumpers instead of using his height advantage in the post.
If this UNC team wants fans to remember them forever then their best effort needs to come through against Roy Williams former team. Think about former UNC teams that were talented and did not win a National title or reach a final four. I bet you can can think of ten off the top of your head where you think man they were good, but they do not receive near the love the 1957, 1982, 1993, 2005 and 2009 teams receive. Until a scoreboard tell me otherwise this team still can win a National Championship. There is no room for any other mindset at this time of the year. Very few people have opportunities such as this team has in front of them tomorrow. What you do with those opportunities determines your status in history. Will you be remembered or forgotten? The choice is right ther in front of you, go out and take it Tar Heels!
