Virginia vs. North Carolina: What to Expect
North Carolina will win this game. Let me make that point first and foremost. This is a must win for North Carolina. Reason being, they are EXPECTED to win. Well, we were EXPECTED to win against Duke also, and we see how that turned out.
Virginia has a very solid defense. They face off against, North Carolina’s offense which is arguably the best in the country. Carolina has to keep the tempo fast. I mean lets face it, UNC doesn’t exactly have a very good half court offense. If Virginia can make North Carolina play a slow half court game, they really do have a good shot at pulling off the upset.
That’s not going to happen though. The Cavaliers may keep it close for a little while, but North Carolina is superior in every way. In my opinion, VA is overrated a little bit due to their fast start this season. Virginia is not as good as their #20 ranking. I’ve stated before, I believe they will self destruct at the tail end of the season. Maybe starting today. Look for a strong game from Mike Scott, who should be able to get his, against a Carolina perimeter defense that has struggled lately. UNC just doesn’t have anybody that can stay with him defensively.
I don’t know how often I can stress the fact that North Carolina’s defense is bad. I mean really bad. However, Virginia just doesn’t have the offensive power to expose them enough to win. I foresee this game being over early. Final Score prediction: 67-53 UNC.
